  • We moved into a new house about 2 weeks ago. I have finally gotten almost everything settled. Here's where I need some creative ideas. This house has NO linen closets or anywhere to put your bath towels or extra blankets and linens. Its strange because this is a good size house. I have every bit of space you could ever imagine in the kitchen, we even have his and her bathrooms, but with no place to put our towels. ( I don't like putting them under the sink, it kindof grosses me out ) Basically after getting most everything put away, it seems that the only extra space I have to put things like this is in the baby's closet, which is still fairly empty (only because we still have many things to get). We are on a tight budget, our money right now is going to bills and baby stuff, there's no extra right now. I would really love some creative, CHEAP ideas of ways to neatly store these things, but keep at least the towels easily accessible. Is there anything that maybe I haven't thought of? All of our closets except the baby's are full. We don't have a coat closet either. Please help... All ideas are greatly appreciated!!!!!!

  • Well... for the extra blankets (which you probably don't use too often) I would just fold them up & use the XL or XXL Hefty One-Zip bags. Then I'd stow them under a bed or in the back of any closet. They sell these in the supermarkets in my area...

And... I might go ahead and do the same thing for the sheets if you typically change the sheets on all the beds at the same time

I know you said that you don't like putting the bath towels under the sink kinda grosses you out... but you could always measure the space & get a rubbermaid-type container to keep them fresh... and take out one at a time??
Either that... or use some of that kitchen space!!

If you have plenty of space there... and it's not tooo far away from the bathroom... hey, it's a solution!!
Thank you Heidi1361!

  • I was thinking the rubbermaid storage bins made for rolling out from under beds.

How about having hubby put up some shelves over the toilet?

Baby's closet will fill up fast -- I wouldn't count on that!!!!
Thank you Oreo!

  • I would say a basket or storage bin underneath the sink or one of those baskets w/a lid that you could keep in the bathroom. Or even in your own closet. If you are like my Dh & I, you get undressed to go take a shower in your bedroom anyways, so when you drop your dirty clothes in the hamper, you could grab a towel.

Our house doesn't have a lot of storage either. We just don't have that many towels! They are on 2 shelves in the hall closet, body & hand towels for the kitchen included. The rest of the closet has extra candles, bug spray, shampoo, flashlights, and one of those plastic bins w/drawers that all the medicine & fist aid is in. It's our everything closet!
Thank you MrsS1stbaby!

  • I have major storage issues in this tiny house

I have a closet in the hallway which is supposed to be a linen closet...
We installed a rod about 3ft up from the floor & hang our seasonal coats in there (the off-season ones go in the basement). The rest is shelving... I have toilet paper in there, cleaning supplies, box of medicine, first aid kit, batteries, screwdriver set, you name it...

... everything BUT linens really!! (In my house, every bed has only 2 sets of linens... the extra one is kept in the back of that rooms closet.)
I have rubbermaid-type DRAWERS in our bathroom under the sink & keep the washcloths & hair brushes, etc in there. I have a pretty basket on top of those drawers in which I keep bath towels. We don't have too many towels... so I just wash them a lot!!
