Actually Susan I have been shocked but the school lunches are really good every time I've eaten with the kids. It's MUCH different than the slop they use to serve us when i was a kid.

I'm not sure about breakfast but lunch is $2.50 and totally worth it. The district insists on mostly local regional and seasonal meals. In addition to their tray lunch with organic milk they have a fresh bar where the kids can help themsleves to in season fresh fruit and veggies. Sometimes DD will take her lunch and do the fresh bar for .50. It's all food I would serve or eat myself. I can't complain, Texas school lunches were so gross with all the pre-fab stuff and retangular pizza. It's interesting to see that here lots of kids bring real food also, soups and pasta in thermoses, fruit and veggies - not all the processed individual snack packs.
