If we ever get to move, one of our requirements is someplace off the garage (or in it) to put our shoes! They all come off right by the side entrance from the garage, and once I'm in school, and the kids are alternating between sandals and tennis shoes, there are a lot of shoes and there is a lot of mud!!!!!!!!

We don't have a no shoe rule but most people take off their shoes. My mom is disabled and cant, and she always takes the long way around the only carpeted area in the downstairs, just so she doesn't track in anything. FIL "has" to wear shoes too, but he walks all over the carpet anytime he pleases.

I usually wear Flip Flops around the house and the kids will sometimes take them off or leave them on, we have a decorative bin in the entry that they know to put them into. We have wood floors mostly so I'm too concerned. My frustration is when they come home from school and take their shoes off with have the Playground Sand in them
