Unhappy ? for those of you who have had a c-section or your tubes tied.

Have any of you gotten a uterine infection after a c-section or having your tubes tied? I did both 10 days ago, and I've been feeling fine until today. I'm running a slight fever (between 100 and 101,) my thighs are hurting, I feel weak, I am sore and tender above my incision (closer to my bellybutton,) and I occassionally have sharp pains in my uterus (not cramps.) DH called the hospital and was told to call the dr. office, and they had him leave a message. We are waiting to hear back from them, so I thought I'd ask you ladies. Thanks.

The thing that has me concerned the most is that my mom had one after she had me and she was not allowed to breastfeed me because of it. I don't know if that has changed now, but I am nursing Haylee. What am I supposed to do?

I had a c-section but did not have a uterine infection.

My mom had a uturine infection after her last baby (she didn't have him c-section, though) - did have to stop BFing, if I recall. (I was 20 years old when she had him)

I had serious pneumonia going on and was on antibiotics when BFing my baby so I think it really depends on the antibiotics they give you as to whether or not you have to stop BFing.

You don't have to stop nursing forever, though.
I'm sure you could "pump and dump" for the time that you need to take antibiotics and feed via formula until you are able to nurse again. The baby, while probably not happy with the change, should eventually be accepting of the change back to nursing if you keep at it.

I had a c/s & my tubes tied & got an infection also. I think Leanna was 3 weeks old. I had bad nightsweats, a lowgrade fever, and uterine cramps. I ended up in the hospital for 2 nites with IV antibiotics but I think my sister talked the doctor into it because I was drop-dead exhausted.

If you have an infection you can still BF unless you are taking antibiotics that the baby can't have - your milk is not infected. My doctor had no clue about BFing so I had to pump & dump for 10 days until I was off the antibiotics. Later I found out I could have been given different antibiotics that wouldn't harm the baby.

I hope whatever you have clears up quickly!
