Default what do you do when a child learns....

.... to just simply repeat anything and everything that she/he hears.
example my nephew:- if you say ... please dont touch this....
he will imitate in this very annoying tone

"please dont touch tis...."
then again i say: "dont speak like dat dear"
and he will imitate again.. again in that annoying tone

"dont speak like that dearrr"

what do you do....

if they're old enough that they're being annoying on purpose.
Then I say things like "Aunt Karen is the best"

Sometimes I get right on their level and do it back for as long as they can stand it!! I'll keep it going for a LONG time just so they really get the point that it's annoying

Other times, I will just tell the child it is rude and annoying.

I do the same as DCnanny.

I'm older and I can be *much* more annoying than any child can.

If it's not the right time, I go to my no-nonsense voice and my kids know to stop then or face serious consequences.

oh, yeah. Sometimes I do the same exact thing and it really does stop them in their tracks for a while.
