What do you get them when they outgrow the toy stage?
Rachel (about to turn 11) doesn't play with toys or games. She wants an Ipod Touch which is more than I want to spend or one of those mini computers which is WAY more than I want to spend. I'll probably get the Touch and combine Bday (12/21) with Xmas but I'd still like to get some other small things. She did see a catalog with horse-related items and liked the charm bracelet and a few other things but dang those catalogs are expensive. I just don't know where else to find the same things.

Its gonna be easier when they don't believe in Santa because then I don't have to have a Santa gift too.

So what are your tweens getting for Xmas?

PS...The Ipod would actually be a good thing for me because I've never been able to figure out how to put videos or anything but music on the non-Ipods they have. I just hate that Ipods are so much more just because they are Ipods.

I've had a regular MP3 player, and I think iPods are so much more because they're much easier to use and have a lot more functionality.

I don't have a tween yet, but they (and teens) do tend to be more expensive to shop for. When I was buying for my nieces and nephews, I didn't have kids of my own, so I had a lot more money to spend.

They have lots of cool ipod accessories too, even a clock radio that charges the ipod and plays the music from it.

We have 3 clock radios and a stereo that play/charge an ipod.

But that is a good idea to let her get accessories.

And Rudi I agree about the ease of Ipods vs other brands.

They have lots of cute accessories for ipods... little cases/covers... cute things to plug your ipod INTO which move/light up... and gift cards for music for the ipod of course.

I think a charm bracelet is a great idea... and could help out with birthday/Christmas' for years to come!!
