Question what kind of potatos

do you use when you make mashed potatos?? Russet, Idaho?? I bought some kind of potatos last months and when mashed they were yellow and waxy feeling.

I don't really pay attention the type of potatoes I buy either. I've heard that white potatoes are best for mashed and red are better for soups/stews and potato salad as they hold their shape better.

I mainly use red potatoes as they seem to work for all receipes & never go to mush.

For Mashed I use Russet Potatoes and then everything else I use red potatoes.
