your child's name

  • Do people ever make comments, positive or not so much, about your child's name?

With kids named Joshua and Matthew, nobody's ever commented on the kids' names other than "that's a good, strong name!" or something about them being "very biblical."

With Brady/Brayden, people comment about it all the time. I've been kind of surprised how many people really like the name. I tend to think it's more trendy than Josh or Matthew, but the ped said today, "Brayden? You don't see that name very much anymore. Is he named after someone?" He didn't mean it in a bad way though.

So do people comment about your kids' names?

  • People always say something about Charlotte's name. I think when she was first born, everyone hated it. But she's REALLY grown into her name and I can't imagine her being any other name.

  • Oh yeah--there was a big hubbub about it when we announced her name. I was physically ill when I wrote her name on the SS paper at the hospital. But I'm really glad we stuck with it because she really gives that name new life.
