Ours is very simple and themed I guess. I was going for simple and inexpensive as we've never had a lot of money to spend on ornaments. I made large fancy bows from gorgeous wired ribbon I bought at Costco. The large bows have very long tails that I curl into long curled tails. Then I put gold balls and hand spun glass hearts between the bows. Problem is the glass heart ornaments were stolen 2 yrs ago. I did get one of the 3 boxes back by a fluke accident that we still aren't sure how the box got at my brothers house! We found it when packing up his house to move. I have no clue how it got out of the bucket that was stolen, but it did, so we'll set them up this yr! I cried and cried when I found the box! We bought them the first yr we were married for our "sweetheart" tree. They are beautiful and irreplaceable! I haven't put up our tree for the last 2 yrs as it hurt too much to not have our special ornaments. The tree is going up this year!!!!!!

The girls have a little 4 foot pencil tree that they decorate and redecorate to their little hearts content. Their ornaments were stolen as well, but they were all cheap dollar store things that I just went and bought new things for them. Their tree is mostly decked out with real candy canes! We've used their little tree as our main tree the last 2 yrs when it hurt too much to put up the big tree.

We definitely have the hodge-podge tree. Lots of different ornaments, half of them end up on the floor by Christmas.

Hodgepodge--- but that's how I like it. Ornaments are passed down in my family. It's one of the only traditions. My grandma passed down a lot of her ornaments to me when she downgraded to a smaller tree. My mom still has some from her parents, who I never met.

definately hodgepodge. And I love it.
Each ornament has a particular meaning (mostly) and is uniquely special. about 2/3 maybe even as many as 3/4 are hand-made and some were handed down thru the generations. (and still look gorgeous)

The tree reminds me of a tree I'd see on an old-fashioned christmas card and I love it.
When I was a kid, our neighbor a few door down (whom had kids our age) had a tree and decorated it with all red stuff. Red balls and bows basically.
I thought it was the strangest tree and still to this day, I think the 'themed' trees are contrived and very un-meaningful

Oh I love the themed trees too. We have a toy store that has a "christmas land" and they sell trees they decorate themselves. I always love how cool they are. This year the "upside down" trees are all the rage. Those don't do anything for me. I love the themed trees but one would look weird in my house. it's very laid back.
