We have an 8 foot, fake pre-lit tree.
The tree skirt we have I got the Christmas before our wedding (11 years ago).

It is dark red velvet with green trim and buttons that go from the tree to the outer edge.

he thinks he and a buddy are going to be able to decorate it all by themselves..all i can think of is Kelli posting last year how her enormous tree fell down..

i do not want that happening to me!
Yeah, once dh carried that thing in (well it took both of us and I had to keep stopping) then actually got it in the stand and pushed it up he vowed never to do that again. Also, keep in mind that the taller it is, the bigger around it is. You could always just let him do it if he insists and he probably won't want to ever do it again.

put the lights on the top of the tree when its laying down BEFORE you stick it in the stand

We have to have an artificial tree as I have allergies and asthma. I wish we could have a real tree- DH does too. I know he misses going and picking out a real tree and the SMELL!! Makes me excited for Christmas!!!
