Default english pros?

How do you show possession for proper names ending Z?

Also when do you use a 's for a proper noun (last name)?

the posession for the proper name ending in Z is the same as ending in any other letter (other than s)
so it would be the Mendez's house.

You prettymuch always use the 's after all proper last names unless it's a last name ending with the sound s and using it would make the sound strained or akward.
(sometimes it can go both ways) Then you would just use the apostrophy.
ie:
Socrates' concepts
Aristophanes' comedies
for goodness' sake
for old times' sake

(the some cases of either/or can be Mr. Jones's OR Jones' employees
Keats's OR Keats' poetry)

now, when you use the possessive plural nouns (both common and proper) ending in s, add only the apostrophy.
farmers' problems
judges' opinions
the Smiths' travels
the Joneses' relatives
three months' delay

Ahh, got it thanks. It just sounds so weird when a z falls as the last letter.

Thanks again for the help.

That one has always confused me too!

And then I go and name my child Wesley & call him "Wes" 1/2 the time!!

"Wes' toys"
I think it looks kinda funny with the apostrophy just hanging there

.... so if I have to write out something like that, I always use his whole name...
