We have the plush carpet upstairs..its kinda like an orange/red color and DH and I hate it, but we figured we would replace it when the girls are older.

Downstairs we have berber. In the main room is kinda a beige w/ colors in it. DH and I regret that type b/c its rough on the knees and w/ our dog he makes pulls in them. In the computer room, we have berber, but then flatter type.

our living and family room carpeting is a very light tan color - very close to white. More like antique white..

It does get dirty, but doesn't require being cleaned except every 6 months or so. THere are spots here and there that pop up that I just leave until the next time I pull out the steam cleaner usually - or I Woolite them with the spray carpet cleaner if they bug me bad enough.

But we don't allow any food or drinks out of the kitchen/dining room.
(and we do allow shoes which are the least of the problems)

No carpets in the house except on the stairs. We just replaced the living room and hall with wooden floors last week. There already was laminate in the living room when we moved in but it was cheap and nasty so we spent a lot and got a gorgeous cherry flooring. I want to put carpet down in the bedrooms (wooden floors there also) as its much warmer and hopefully will keep the heating bills a bit lower plus Lucy will be able to play in her room.

Builder beige carpet! I vacuum frequently, but it stays quite clean. My girls are only allowed to eat over the carpet for snacks occassionally and they are required to lay down a blanket. We take our shoes off by the door. The only time the floors get gross is when we have a party. It seems like every time I'm scrubbing cake out of my carpet! If we do get a random spot, I quickly spot clean the area.
