We had a light blue berber carpet in our old condo.
We brought home son #1 and were there til he turned 15mos old.
I HATED it. I was able to BASICALLY keep it clean... anytime my cat threw up

The only rugs we have in our house are 2 square road-map type rugs in the toy room... the rest is WOOD, tile in the bathroom, and something cheap in the kitchen.

We have all laminate and tile flooring. We ripped out all the carpet a couple of years ago and it was DISGUSTING what was in there- even with vacuuming and cleaning. We don't have kids yet, but we have 5 dogs and 2 cats- so I still have to vacuum up the hair alot, but the floors look GREAT! I don't suggest, real wood, unless you really want it, because it can scratch and get damaged much more easily than laminate. Our laminate is Wilson Art which is a very durable brand. We even put it in ourselves- it's really not that difficult. It also helps with my allergies/asthma not to have carpet. I will NEVER go back to disgusting carpet! YUCK!!! I am for laminate ALL THE WAY!

We have a beige/tan carpet in ours...we replaced the light beige berber that got really nasty. It's were the kids play and the dogs sleep so it's professionally cleaned every 4 months (we know the owners really well so they do it cheap for us).
