Default I'm going to crunch soon--- homemade wipes?

I don't know what's happening... I'm feeling so granola-y lately.

I know some of you made your own wipes. How do you do it? How do you keep them from being freezing cold when you go to use them?

I was reading up and it seems like the paper towel ones get moldy after too long. I like the cheap washcloth idea--but would be willing to try the paper towel idea. We use a LOT of wipes. It would have to be something dh could do without a lot of thought... ok without any thought. I mean, I could make them up but it has to be easy access.

When I used cloth wipes, I simply wet them down before I used them. Just plain water! There are wipes recipes you can make up and put into a squeezie bottle, or pour over a days worth of wipes in a disposable wipes container.

There are lots of different fabrics that people use. Its totally personal preference! I like woven terry as it has good gripping power! One cloth wipe would easily do the job that 4-5 disposables ones would do.

You'll want to wash every 2-3 days so they don't get gross and yucky. Just put them in a dry pail with a lid. I like to line my pail with a washable liner as well. If you're going to go through the trouble of washing cloth wipes, then go full on with cloth diapers and even up the load!

I never did make-my-own wipes... but they're a really good idea. And with an infant... you have to do laundry all the time anyways... what's a few more washcloths, right!?!

When my kids had diaper rashes (which they didn't have too often) I used a baby washcloth with warm water instead of wipes 'cause the wipes would STING their little bums.

Using a washcloth was always MUCH faster than using the wipes.
