How many songs will a 1GB player hold? Enough to make it worth buying or would you get something larger?

Would you buy an IPod or any brand? I'm leaning toward Ipod brand only because they sell so many boom-box type docks for them & my kids need a CD player anyway.

I'd do Ipod... I had an offbrand and I never was able to get it to work properly and it sounded bad... I didn't like it at all. I have an Ipod now and I love it... I have an 8gig and there is no way I'd ever fill that thing up!

1gb will hold about 250 songs. If you want to dock it though you need to get a nano or original. You can't really dock the shuffle. Both the girls have one though and I have the 8gb Nano which I love. The other thing about the shuffle is that you have to just keep hitting the forward button to change songs and find a one if your looking for a certain song. Withe the Nano or any of them with the screen you can scroll through and find what you are looking for.

I went to Target & was looking at them. I didn't realize the shuffle was a teeny thing! The other ones are way too expensive for me to get for the kids so they'll have to make do with some other brand. I can just get speakers instead of a dock anyway.
