i just wne to bed and was gonna check on the kids to make sure they were covered. i looked at Ava, 2 years old, and there she was fast asleep with her hand under her pajamas and under her diaper, fell asleep while maybe "exploring". this totally freaked my dh out, i pulled her hand out, so she did not pee on it, and it was really down there, right smack on her vagina area. should i be concerned about this>

Despite the common thought that only boys like to explore their nether regions, it is perfectly normal for girls to do the same thing. AND, perfectly normal for them to find pleasure in certain things down there too.
Totally right on target for her age.

You just need to tell her during the daytime that she isn't supposed to 'play with herself' because it gets her hands dirty. (and any other reasons you may want, but the 'do it in private' won't work considering she *is* currently doing it in private

it's a phase that she'll eventually grow out of - usually it's a short phase.

Nope, just leave it alone. I would have also pulled her hand out so she didn't pee on it, but the exploration is normal (albeit uncomfortable for us to deal with!).
