I took an Adult Roles class in HS and marriage and relationships as well as parenting was discussed in depth. It was an elective class and quite fun, but also very informative and helped me a lot!

I don't get tv, so I haven't a clue what you're talking about with the ads.

Its a Calif prop trying to outlaw same-sex marriage. It has a little girl coming home with a book called "King and King" or something like that & then the ad says schools will be required to teach about same-sex marriage. As if they are teaching about marriage in 1st grade.

As far as I know that is a total lie.

I don't want to start a debate on this board - I was just wondering if info on marriage IS taught in any schools. A HS relationtionship class makes sense - and I can see the issue arising naturally there but not in elem school.

Those ads are so misleading! There is no where in our state (I am from CA too) standards that says marriage is taught in schools. I have a personal opinion about the message that those ads are sending but this isn't the debate board so I will refrain from stating it here.

I don't remember there being anything about marriage specifically. We did have a class in which we "pretended" to be married--had to make a budget, plan for children, etc. But it was more an economics class than a lecture on marriage.

I never was taught anything about marriage.
I never even had to do the fake marriage game with the egg thing that alot of schools do (you know, 2 kids pair up and then have to take care of an egg for a month etc)
