I think that having a u/s daily could cause harm but 1 more than the "normal" wouldn't.

And as the 3d/4d u/s is something special - you get a "real" picture of the baby, I think you could probably convince your ob that you want it for the picture and the experience so she shouldn't get her panties in a wad over it. Here they advertise it, so I dont' think it needs a doctor referral unless you want insurance to pay for it.

Oh, and the techs that operate the machines may not be doctors, but they take measurements and then send the reports to radioligists who revew them - just like xrays & mri's.

Let me clarify myself... I was talking about the techs that do the Ultrasounds for picture/video purposes. They cannot diagnose at those places... they are merely for pictures/videos. I called multiple places and they let you know for sure that they don't do it for medical reasoning.

I totally agree that the Ultrasound techs for doctor's offices/hospitals/etc are great... they are wonderful and very knowledable....

I was dissing US techs... sorry if it came across like I was

it's the same here in Canada Brandi. They all say "for entertainment purposes only". All they would tell us is that he was definitely a boy, but we could see that!

I had one with my daughter down in Colorado. That was almost 6 years ago, but back then I needed a note from my doctor that he knew I was going. They also stressed VERY strongly that it was NOT for diagnostic purposes. Back then it cost $150 and we got a video and pictures. They also promised they would be able to determine the sex and they couldn't, so we got to go back a second time in two weeks for free.

I really enjoyed it and I think it was a great experience! My OB has the equipment in the office now though and so that is the standard ultrasound at 20 weeks! I'm so excited!

I had about 17 ultrasounds with Charlotte and she was vaccinated----no autism.

An extra "fun" one won't hurt. I say if you want to do it, go for it!
