My doctor's office got one of those machines right about a month after I had Jocelyn. I was so disappointed because we had wanted to have a 3d/4d done with Joey, but decided to wait until baby #2. Then when we got pg with Joc we never got around to it. If my ob would have had the machine just a month or so earlier I could have totally had it done for free.

Anyhow, I was going to say that I think you should go for it if you have the chance. Especially if this might be the last baby for you, then it's like a once in a lifetime opportunity.

And in regards to the comments about it possibly being dangerous, well, I'd just say don't do it all the time. I don't think one extra u/s is going to hurt anything.

Good luck!

I had 2 of the 3d ones with this last baby (born in March) and it was just wonderful!!! I also had a ton of the regular ones at the Peri office and my regular ob's office. I did have to give them my OB's # but they said on the paperwork that they do not call the OB.

Yet again, the thread wasn't about whether I should get the u/s. It was about whether my doctor would have to know.

I'm sure people who are obs do read up on information that comes out on the tools they use, just as any good doctor would.

Autism has been around a lot longer than ultrasound, and it is just recently that it's being more correctly identified and diagnosed.

I guess I'll have to get pregnant, and then go see if they call her or not. She works in the middle of our city, and she sees many smokers, overweight people with poor diets, people who don't get good prenatal care, dont take vitamins, don't even try to breastfeed, etc. I really try to do all those things... and if she is going to deny me the ultrasound I'm going to go elsewhere.

sounds like a plan! Hopefully she's ok with it so you don't have to change docs!
