ok so i totally had a girl name picked out, i thought. BUt now one other name keeps sticking in my head. My dd, age 1, is Ava. Would it be weird to name a girl, Avery as a sister to Ava? maybe they are too close, but then i think it may be cute, what do you all think?

As a teacher who has taught many siblings, I say the names are too close. I have a lot of colleagues who are not really good with names and Ava will possibly be called Avery and vise versa for their entire school careers. They may resent being mixed up in school and having a totally different name may help your soon to be younger daughter have (or at least help her to feel like she has) her own identity.

I like both names... but think the names are too similar for sisters.
