I always try to think about what nick-names other kids might come up with to go with a name to help me decide. Everyone here knows me as Kristina, but growing up I was just Tina. I was Tiny-Tina (which was OK), but didn't care for high school when the guys thought it funny to call me Tuna. Oh well.
DH had it worse I think - my dad thought it must've been hard on him being called Mardy-smarty, but
DH said he never got that one - only Mardy-farty.

The worst we could think of when we were deciding on Lucas was puke-as (and variations) and mucous. I figure
if we prepare him ahead of time with a good response to any name teasing he'll survive.
So
if he (and you) can handle Gus-Pus or some equally disgusting version that kids will think up then I say stick with the name you like.
