Thumbs down Getting frustrated

Breastfeeding is starting to drive me nuts! I'm exhausted from always getting up so much during the night. Plus I'm just sick and tired of constantly trying to keep this boy awake. He's good for the first 5 minutes, then he starts falling asleep and I'm having hard time getting him to stay awake and nurse. He's nursing every 2 hours and it's getting old fast! I do everything to keep him awake and nothing works for longer than maybe 10 more sucks from him.

I change his diaper, burp him, take him off to help him wake back up, tickle his feet, use a cold wash cloth, and even blow on his face. I've been doing compressions to try to keep him sucking but he nurses for an hour and then wants more because he wants to go to sleep. AHHH!!!!

Cora did bottles by about a month and I have to say, that's much easier than this craziness!

It is hard for the first few months but If it helps just remember that it gets so much easier. and if you need some sleep you can pump and have dh bottle feed or even suplement with some formula. do what you can to get some sleep because lack of sleep makes things even more stressful.

Don't give up- it DOES get so much easier! I used bottles (pumped and used formula) from time to time to help when I was feeling tired and needed a break.

But in all honesty I found bfing so much easier because I didn't have to wash/sterilize bottles, boil water and mix formula.

I tried to pump so dh can attempt to give him a bottle, but I only got 1 oz total.

We've tried formula, but he won't drink it - I'm not sure if it's the bottle or the taste of the formula that bugs him.

Maybe try a different type of nipple on the bottle?
