I think I have inverted/flat nipples

I had them with my first child too.. I bought the kit... and didn't use it once because that baby sucked them right out... don't worry!

I wanted to add, most hospitals have lactation consultants (I think its a law now). If you are having trouble getting the baby to latch on, I'm sure the LC will have nipple shells available for you.

Yea, they told us there is a LC and if you are having trouble, they have shells and will also pump a little to get them to stick out more....but she also mentioned it is easier on everyone if you have already done your homework at readied yourself before hand. I am gonna go this weekend and see how much they are. It can't hurt, right?

You could always pump right before nursing to get your nipples to pop out as well. You'd only have to put the pump to the breast for a few minutes and they'll pop right out!

That's what we tell our mamas with inverted nipples to do before using shells..

I would ask your OB they should be able to tell you if you do have inverted nipples and they may be able to give you the shells. My sister had issues and it helped more to pump for a minute before nursing instead of the shells.
