Question Lansinoh ointment

I hope I spelled that right. Anyway, I have a raw spot on one of my nipples, it's not bad at all, but I know it can get bad. I don't think it's from his latch, that seems fine, there is no pain (except for when my milk lets down, that hurts a little). What do ya'll think could cause this?
Anyway, I put some of that Lansinoh ointment on it. It says it's ok for baby while breastfeeding. Is that true? I shouldn't wash it off before he nurses on that side? And speaking of washing, I've read not to use soap, just water on the girls. Is that true?

Yep, just water- and if you express a little milk and rub it on your nipple and let it dry that might help too. I only used the Lansinoh ointment once but I was worried about the baby. Just watch out for clogged ducts and what not- try to put baby Gus on in different postitions so all the ducts are drained. Mastitis is VERY painful if you get it- and I hope you never do!!

I used that stuff every day from day 1.

As far as soap.. I never went by that but it can tend to dry things out. Of course I neve scrubbed at them either.

I used it and never washed it off. I havent used soap on my nipples since I was 6 months pregnant, because the bf book I read said that could dry out the nipples.
