i think i got it ladies.
i woke up last night with a horrible pain in my left breast. i kneaded it for a while (which was torture) and it was hard like a rock!! i also had a low grade fever and chills. i actually even felt nauseous. for a minute there, i thought i had the flu.

i called my OB and left him a message. but, its sunday and i am not pregnant...dont know if he will call me back!

im trying to drain the effective one more efficently. any tips?

Get in bed with baby and nurse nurse nurse. You also want to put warm wash clothes on the area. Is it red where it is sore? You also need to slow down and get some rest, with or without baby. Hopefully your doctor will call you back soon many times they like to give antibiotics to help clear this up.

Mastitis hurts horribly. Take pain meds that are okay for breastfeeding and continue nursing. Definitely get in asap because it can get much worse and requires antibiotics.

doc called back and ordered antibiotics. my breast is red and blotchy and really hot. sigh!
