Default Meds for thrush

Okay I totally felt like I just took over that other thread... my dd had thrush and I was giving her Nystatin (and still am) well I got it called in on Friday evening and the girl was very vague at what to do, so anyways, I gave it to Avery and her's is pretty much cleared up, and she said "you know you'll have to put it on you too?" So I'm assuming she meant the Nystatin, so I put it on my nipples before I nurse her... however I'm still in major pain... should I be using a yeast cream like monostat too??

I got a Nystatin cream for me and also to put on the diaper rash and then a Nystatin oral med to give to DS by mouth 3 times a day for 2 weeks. the cream was the same name but it was in cream form and the Dr said not to but it in his mouth and to wipe it off the nipple before feeding him.

My dr told me just to rub the same stuff I was giving her on my nipples several times a day. That way I didnt have to worry about remembering to wash my nipples before nursing and worrying if I got it all off or not. It worked well for me. Maybe you should put it on after she nurses so it has time to sit on your nipple rather then putting it on right before and then she just sucks it off. Just a thought.

yes, the same stuff you gave her you have to rub on you too.
AND, you have to change your nursing pads each time you nurse - and rub more stuff on.
If you don't change the pads, you're letting the yeast have a nice cozy place to multiply.

and make sure you wash anything else that was in her mouth like binkys, bottle nipples, medicine spoons. My Doctor even said to throw out all the binkys because it's to hard to get the thrush off of them. I boiled all his toys and sippy cups and things like that., and then put them in the sunlight to dry.

And wash your bras in hot water and make sure to dry them with high heat or dry them out in the sunlight because high heat and /or sunlight will kill the yeast.
