Default Pacifiers

Do you think it's too soon to give him a pacifier? He'll be 4 weeks on Friday. He's been nothing but breastfed in that time, so I'm assuming he's pretty accustomed to mom only. Anyway, I think alot of times he nurses just for comfort/pacifying. He won't be sucking he'll just sit there holding the nipple in his mouth. And sometimes there is a different suck, like I can tell he's not actually "drinking". I would like to give him a paci for comfort from time to time if it means I can actually fold an entire load of clothes without having to go back to it 2 or 3 times. Is that wrong of me?

I would say go ahead and give him one, gerber NUK is an orthapedic and is what I have used with my 2 that have taken them. Kaylee has taken a binkey from birth she had breathing issues at birth then was transported via ambulance so they took a binky with them to sooth her instead of suplimenting and she is still nursing strong at 18 months and uses her binky for bed time after she nurses.

I think it's fine. Marek doesn't love the paci but he has taken one occasionally since birth.

I would think that if you used an orthopedic paci and only to comfort that it would be okay. I've dealt with many breastfed only babies who take paci when I worked at daycare... it was a nice way to comfort them when mom was running late...

BTW, Gus is an absolute doll! I love your avatar pic! Rudi Marek is too!
