Default Refusing bottles

I think Karen mentioned something about Sarah not taking a bottle for quite some time...and I wanted to know what tips you had for getting babies to accept a bottle on occasion.
Lola took a bottle the first time we gave it to her, but ever since then she refuses it. she will pool the milk in her mouth and then spit it out...and then she uses her tongue to push out the nipple. of course, she will scream and i end up nursing.

thank you!

I guess the first question I'd ask is whether somebody's trying to feed her while you're around. I think I mentioned before that Marek would not take a bottle if I was anywhere in the house. He could SMELL me, and he was not interested in a bottle if I was available to nurse. Maybe test this by scheduling some time to be out during her normal feeding time, but plan to be back within 10-15 minutes of the time she normally eats (so she won't be utterly starving if she refuses the bottle, but has to give it a chance). I know this might sound dumb, but it really was the case with my little boy.

Other than that, maybe try some different nipples. Some babies have particular preferences about what type of nipple they'll accept, and once you hit on one she likes, she should do better.

Erin did the same exact thing.
I had to leave everytime dh gave Erin a bottle. We also had to switch nipples. I use playtex dropins and Erin prefers the latex nipples to the silicone. A friend of mine had the same issue and her ds also preferred the latex nipples.
My doc suggested offering a bottle once a day, even if only an ounce or 2 followed by bf so the baby doesn't lose the skill.
Now Erin will take a bottle easily even if I am home and she will even take it from me.
