Have you ever tried the 5 S's (Happiest Baby on the Block)? I had some luck with Marek using this technique.

Swaddle him up
Hold him so he's on his Side or Stomach
Shake (gently) or put him in the Swing
Shhh in his ear
Let him Suck on a paci

This was one of the few ways I could get him to calm down consistently, and it particularly works for younger babies because it replicates the conditions in the womb.
