starting milk Breastfeeding Message Board

my ds will be 1 year next month and the ped told me to start giving him milk he said about 25 -30oz a day! is that right even when breastfeeding? right now he nurses about 6-8 time during the day and then at night before bed and a little bit during the night too.
how have you guys started milk and did the baby nurse less after starting it?

and did you use a sippy cup? Lincoln has never realy took a bottle well but he will drink out of a sippy!

No real help here... I'm sure these ladies will be able to help, but that seems like an awful lot... especially since you are breastfeeding!

That does seem like a lot with breast feeding. You migth try introducing it one sippy cup at a time to see how much he actually wants.

I breastfed DS til he was 13 months and He only got 1 ... maybe 2 cups of milk a day after that.. He never took a bottle.

DD took about 18 oz. tops of milk a day..
