Default Swollen nipple...

I need your help! I got up this morning to feed Avery (after her sleeping all night) and fed her on the left breast first and burped her and then fed her a little bit on the right until she was finished. Then I pumped both sides and now after I've pumped, my left nipple is swollen and very sore... is this from pumping or a lazy latch?

I'm guessing from pumping. When you nurse and pump, the nipples expand a little bit as the milk sprays out (I'm sure you've noticed a difference in size since Avery was born).

I don't know what pump you're using, but if you've seen some expansion of your nipples, you might need bigger horns for your pump. The standard ones for the Medela Pump in Style are 24mm (the tubes that the nipples get pulled into when you pump). Well, I need the XL size (30mm). If I use the 24mm or the 27mm for any length of time, I get very sore nipples. Basically, you need something bigger if you see the nipples rubbing against the sides of the tube as you pump.

The link below shows a picture of a good fit and a too tight shield.

my pump did make my nipples a bit sore and swollen sometimes if i did not get the nipple centered right in the cup, or if I pumped in a while. but it went away within an hour or so.
