Sounds like his poo is normal to me. Try some good zinc cream and cut out the wipes. He should be fine soon.

could be a ton of things but poop even in breastfed babies is different for each child. Sarah's was the 'traditional' BF poop you hear about, but Andrew was just like eraser rubbings. No fluid whatsoever to it, just stuff that was incredibly hard to wipe

My kids were super sensitive. I couldn't have any wipes that had any perfumes etc in them. I had the huggies brand (thick is what I liked) Natural without perfumes etc. I also had to have huggies brand diapers. (they fit better anyway).

lastly, theres nothing better than the zinc coating (like desitin) nice and thick as a barrier to help keep the poop away ... just incase it is the poop that is causing the burning (which I think is unlikely)

Josh's poop was runny all the time. He would also grunt and groan when he was pooping. We'd be out in public and you'd hear "uhhhhh" and then all these farts and him having a complete blowout. When I took him to the lactation consultant all dressed up in his cute little train outfit, with just one grunt and push, he pooped on all 3 pieces of the outfit, his socks, plus the pillow and pillowcase, the blanket he was wrapped in, and my shirt.
He also pooped a lot.
I would just keep applying the barrier cream, even once the rash seems to have cleared up. And I agree about calling the ped.

If you are eating lots of acidic stuff (tomatoes, citrus etc) that could be affecting his poopies. Acidic poops (which is what my kids get when they have too much tomato sauce and also when they are teething) will cause some serious diaper rash. Susan (savannah33) gave me a tip.. Mylanta mixed with desitin on a clean dry bum. And rinse the wipes before using them. You could also try lotrimin with a top layer of desitin which also helps. Good luck sweetie.. I know all too well how sore bums hurt.

Nevan had a very bad rash once -- because of particularly bad (runny) poop as well... like the ladies have said -- Barrier Creams (zincs; Balmex; Desitin etc. ) worked well - coupled with even more frequent diaper changes (even more than normal... and i know you're already changing baby like every 20 seconds it seems- lol) ---
Nevans was as a result of an antibiotic --- caused a mini intestinal yeast infection in the little dude that gave him the runs... but can be caused by all sorts of reasons... know that it will clear up with a little effort -- and if not, Doc can help figure it out.
