My breast feel like there are needles poking it as she is sucking. I have had Thrush before and this is exactly what it felt like. When I had it and she had it, I used the same nystatin that I was putting in her mouth and rubbed that on my nipple. That way I didnt have to worry about rubbing it off before nursing. It worked like a charm. She is not getting bottles but does get sippy cups at meal time. She is a year old so I know I shouldnt be too upset but I really wanted to nurse at least once a day (maybe the bedtime one) till she was 2!!!

I'm sorry

I hope she starts picking back up...

I didn't mean to totally take over your thread, but I was curious about the same thing, my breasts, not just my nipples, but my entire breasts are so sore... and painful... and when she sucks, it hurts so bad... I'm using the Nystatin before I nurse her (the same stuff she is taking) and hers is pretty much cleared up... so I guess my question is, do you think the pain is from thrush on my nipples?

My first son & I had thrush.... YOWZERS did that hurt. Exactly how brandimichelle described. I remember using yeast infection cream (monostat, etc) after he nursed & I'd clean my nipples off before he ate again.

I don't THINK that thrush would make your milk taste bad?!?! Would it make it harder to suck out?? I don't know!?!

It could very well be that she's just weening herself... they all do that at some point!!

YES YES YES and YES

The needles makes me believe it is thrush...
and she may be weaning... or maybe you don't see the white patches as I didn't with Aiden but we had thrush.

(he was over a year at the time)
