Question What do you do when...

baby is having a growth spurt and nurses frequently but your milk supply can't keep up?

My baby isn't due until May but I've nursed my other 3 and always felt a little worried/stressed when it appeared as though my breasts were totally drained and I had nothing left to offer the babies.

well, around 2 1/2 months of age, My boobs had fully dialed in on the proper quantity to make so they didn't feel engorged anymore.. but they had pleanty of milk in them (and then some if they were extra hungry for some reason).

Your body is quick to compensate when a baby starts demanding more milk. If they have a growth spurt and start nursing more, your body starts to kick in and produce more milk. Simple supply and demand.
Just trust in your body and know that it's capable of doing what it's suposed to do.

It's really common during those growth spurts. It's a scary feeling when you feel empty and the baby is still squaking for more!!!

Rest assured that even when you *feel* empty, your baby is getting milk!

and as you well know - the more you nurse, the more you will make!!

Just drink lots, get plenty of rest and like Karen says, trust your body!

Don't be surprised if you hear from me alot.

I've already learned so much from this board and I don't want to use bottles and formula if I don't have to. Thank you!

Yep. Keep nursing. If baby is fussing switch sides...

Usually by the time the one breast is completely drained, you the other has some milk in it. They also feed frequently durring those growth spurts. So don't be concerned if they want to eat often.
