Default Another question

Sorry I have so many stupid questions but I was so unsuccessful BF my DD that I want to really get it right this time.

So, right now I am pumping every few hours and feeding Anthony directly. He sleeps 4-5 hours straight at night and it I don't pump i wake up in pain and wet. Plus, we are really struggling with the direct feeding.
So, my question is that if I stop pumping and just wait for him to eat, I know my body will adjust after a few days but then when he starts to eat more, will my milk supply decrease. My best friend calls me and says "MOO"

Your body will adjust your milk to your baby.

Don't feel stupid, I didn't successfully bf my first, and had all the same questions you do when I did with my second.

The baby will tend to eat more during a growth spurt, therefore boosting your milk supply to match their appetite.

I really recommend the soft plastic nipple guards if sore nipple are the problem. I didn't know they had them until this baby. He likes to chew, and my nipples were so raw and sore I almost gave up after 2 weeks. Then I went to babiesrus, and found the "nipple protectors". You just put them over your nipple, and latch the baby on. It keeps them from getting chapped/cracked.

I don't think you should stop pumping altogether, only because you are waking up wet & in pain... I was there, I totally get that. I would keep the pump next to the bed and just pump to relieve myself when it woke me up in the night.

But if your supply decreases and he needs more, your body will adjust to his needs. Your flow doesn't seem to be a problem, so you don't have to worry about that

Early on I'd sometimes be pumping at 3am because DD hadn't eaten enough and I was in pain, then bam! growth spirt and she was feeding every 2 hours and draining me dry! I'd keep pumping and count it as getting ahead of the game
