Default I need to freak out in a place I know I'm loved....

Ok, and before I begin, let me just tell you that yes, I know I am freaking out probably a little prematurely but STILL....

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!!! I do not know what I am going to do! Ok, yes I do know, but O-M-G.

So back in 2000 a little girl I had as a "student" in daycare was diagnosed with something and needed a bone marrow transplant. I went to be tested and joined the bone marrow registry. The whole process of donating the marrow is painful and when I looked at it- I didn't even read it all because I knew in my heart if I was a match, I would do it.

Well, I got a letter today stating that I am a possible match for someone. At first I kind of dismissed it like oh they probably contacted 1000 people or something, but on their website it says that if you are selected for preliminary testing, your chances of being selected are 1 in 12. Of course I can change my mind at any time, but to even be faced with this is crazy to me. There are just so many feelings right now.

well, first, I have to say -- PHEW!!!! I am so glad you and the boys are ok....

Hmmm.... I'm not sure what I'd do.... talk to your HR person and try to find out if your work insurance will cover it, how much time off you'd need, what the other party covers... for me details always help calm my initial fears and give me a chance to make a rational decision. What are the risks to you?

I might hate it and be terrified, but I'd likely do it if it didn't cost me anything and was safe.

Hug!

It's totally free to me. They cover everything. I think they even pay for my time off work.

Oh, and sorry for the extra freaking out! You have to know by now that I need my life planned out at least 20 years in advance, so this is not working for me, lol.

I'd be freaking out too, but it is pretty awesome to think that you might be able to majorly help someone or possibly save their life. That is scary but amazing.

Good luck with the decision and the waiting to find out. I almost hope for you that someone else is a better match, so you don't have to go through the actual decision and everything, but I will just pray that whatever is best for you and the match happens and goes smoothly for everyone. WOW!
