I am sick to my stomach right now. I just checked my work email and looks like layoffs are happening after the new year. Well, there goes my Xmas spirit. How Im I suppose to enjoy the holidays now?! I think DH was just getting into the spirit, now I have to tell him this.

Oh no! That stinks! I am guessing you are fairly sure it will affect your department? Does your company offer severance packages?

I've gone through the layoff-thing twice. Neither time was fun....I hate going on all those interviews...but at least each place offered a severance package.

The company I work for now rarely lays off people, but we just found a HUGE client is leaving us, so I likely have to get switched to another team for a different client. But I can't see them being able to move everyone around; I think they may actually have to let people go this time. Of course nothing will actually happen for several months. Probably should update my resume just in case!

Nope, no severance package. There is 525 employees and the number of layoffs will be 100. I cannot let it ruin the holidays for the kids. It is what it is.

Sorry, and sorry for the bad timing. My wife, due to a volunteer position she has, just found out that our county schools is going to have to lay off about 100 people over the winter break. We're crossing our fingers it's nobody from our kids school!
