Default Our First Time Hosting/Cooking Thanksgiving!

This year I swear my wife has gone insane! Not only did she volunteer to be a Girl Scouts Daisy Leader, and secretary of the elementary school LSIC but she also decided to host Thanksgiving at our house!

We did decided to be smart and only invite my parents and grandparents for actual dinner at 1:30. Leslie's family is larger and way more difficult (her words not mine!) so we invited them all over for coffee and dessert at 5pm, which really pissed off her mom, but that's a whole other story!

Anyway on Wed. morning I made a brine for the turkey (brown sugar, salt, rosemary, apple cider, peppercorns, and orange peels) while she baked the traditional pies and made a broccoli cheese casserole. Later that day I made a sweet potato pie with pecan and graham cracker crust. On the big day we cooked the bird and made real stuffing. Long story short everything went perfect, which was good because Leslie really felt a lot of pressure for everything to be completely perfect. Here are some photos:

I can't see any of the photos, but I am sure they are great! Glad to hear it well; we have had Thanksgiving at our house for the past 4 years I think. It is crazy, loud, but also fun. There is always 20+ people and this year we had more little ones than ever! It is just easier than having to coordinate with several different family members, so we just invite my side & Dh's side to our house. (that live here) I did TRY to get my mom to do a seperate one on like Friday with just our family at her place or my sister's, but she refused! She said she could NOT do Thanksgiving on any other day but Thanksgiving Day. (among many other traditions she cannot skip or change) So once again we had everyone at our place. We don't cook everything though- everyone chips in and there is always plenty to eat.

One year, it would be nice to have a smaller amount of people and be able to talk & visit with everyone equally. And Dh really wants to go to TX to see his parents for Turkey Day and go hunting with his dad. Guess we need to start saving up!

Either BC or Photobucket is acting funky today. I've checked this thread twice and different times different photos show/don't show.
