Default The pie

I made the pumpkin pie from fresh pumpkin. According to DH and Leanna, it tastes the same as the ones from the grocery stores. (I don't like pumpkin pie much so I don't know if it tastes right or not.) Next time I feel like baking I'll make it from a can and see if anybody can tell a difference.

It is NOT worth the trouble of cleaning out the pumpkin stringy mess, cooking the pulp, getting out all the water, and then using a mixer to puree it. And after we'd cooked the pulp Leanna totally lost interest which was the only reason I was going thru the trouble.

I also tried making muffins with the leftover mix. I added some flour and baking powder to the same stuff that went into the pie. I think that would have been good if I'd used more baking powder (they were too dense) but still not worth the trouble to use fresh pumpkin.

Yea I was surprised that it looks so good. I once bought fresh pumpkin pie from a lady who sells them over the holidays and it was really dark and ugly.

My MIL always brings over the pumpkin pie for T-giving. I will eat it. DH hates pumpkin pie. I normally buy the Mrs Smith Dutch Apple w/ vanilla ice cream and he would rather have that than the homemade stuff.
