  • Does your school have a lot of "politic-ing" going on? Are you on the "inside" or on the "outside" of it?

Either way, what do you think of people using their power to have their way within a school? Do you think it's ok?

  • So funny you posted this! There is a ton of politics in my school and district. Some people are known to be "in" with the admin and tell them about everything that happens in the faculty room. When I was last at school I was friendly with a group of teachers who are active in the union. It has been 4 years, so who knows where I will settle in. I a thinking I will just be teaching and keeping my mouth shut to avoid the drama!

  • I was thinking I guess this could be taken 2 ways, but what I meant was in your child's school. Meaning, do certain parents/children have "clout" and get to pick their child's teacher each year, and other priveleges that are just randomly assigned to children because they're "so and so's kid."

  • yes!!! we have lots of parents who get whatever they want because they are squeaky wheels and it's horrid.
    It's not really politics -- it's bully-ish.

There are teachers on the inner circle of the system as well who just get what they want... ugh.

  • Oh, sorry. I guess I am still obsessing about going back to work and fitting into the politics as a teacher!
There are definitely some kids that get more than others because of the parents. I am not looking forward to dealing with that when I get back either!
