Default School politics

Does your school have a lot of "politic-ing" going on? Are you on the "inside" or on the "outside" of it?

Either way, what do you think of people using their power to have their way within a school? Do you think it's ok?

So funny you posted this! There is a ton of politics in my school and district. Some people are known to be "in" with the admin and tell them about everything that happens in the faculty room. When I was last at school I was friendly with a group of teachers who are active in the union. It has been 4 years, so who knows where I will settle in. I a thinking I will just be teaching and keeping my mouth shut to avoid the drama!

I was thinking I guess this could be taken 2 ways, but what I meant was in your child's school. Meaning, do certain parents/children have "clout" and get to pick their child's teacher each year, and other priveleges that are just randomly assigned to children because they're "so and so's kid."

yes!!! we have lots of parents who get whatever they want because they are squeaky wheels and it's horrid.
It's not really politics -- it's bully-ish.

There are teachers on the inner circle of the system as well who just get what they want... ugh.

Oh, sorry. I guess I am still obsessing about going back to work and fitting into the politics as a teacher!
There are definitely some kids that get more than others because of the parents. I am not looking forward to dealing with that when I get back either!
