Default Star Wars?

At what age do you let your kids watch Star Wars? Seems like all Josh's friends have seen it, but in my mind, he's way too young for it. Not only is it kind of violent, but it just seems like the plot and all the characters etc would just be way over his head. On the other hand, I think I might have been just a bit older than him when I saw it.
What do you think?

Gosh Braedon was into that big time last year and he watched all 8 or 9 of them. Plus the Clone Wars series. He doesn't care to watch it now. I think even if it's over their head they still get the main story line. It's sort of violent but it's all swords, light sabers etc so it's not like them really shooting each other and blood and guts everywhere.

Our kids still haven't seen them--but they're girls. Sarah's 8, Char's 6 1/2.

Our kids have watched a bit of one or two but aren't that in to it. ALL of their friends are really in to Star Wars though, so we try to give them the highlights and let them watch when they ask.

I don't think it is too young if you are watching with them to explain anything too scary.

I don't think my kids get it at all, but it is visually neat to watch I'm guessing. I was never in to a Star Wars honestly. LOL!

Both my boys (6&9) love Star Wars. They have toys, movies, books, etc.

Maybe Josh would like the animated version?
