I added up how much we are spending eating out and it's humiliating. We have actually CUT BACK and still it's a lot. We are being so careful about other things and yet we still need to improve on this. Normally we go out one weekday without the kids because they're at the ILs and then once during the weekend with the kids. It's still too much (and there are little things like getting pizza, etc that we still do which add up). DH suggested to start eating dinner at home and getting dessert-- which would save a lot.

Please don't tell me I'm the only one with this problem???

When we first started working on our budget, we were spending $450/month dining out.
We have cut back to about $150/month and that's still pretty high. We could definitely cut back but I enjoy a night or two each week without the stress of what I'm going to make.

Dh put our eating out into perspective for me today and it's MUCH MUCH more than I would like to admit to. SOOO, we really NEED to cut back BIG TIME with out eating out. It has really gotten out of hand again and there really is no good excuse for it

You aren't alone. This is our biggest expense for sure. We really aren't having any luck cutting this one out either. Especially this summer. All 4 of us are home together 24/7 and eating out represents seeing other people and not sitting in this house.

I really hope that we are able to cut back on this but for the time being it is what it is...a guilty pleasure/habit.

When we moved to the country this was one thing that we had to give up for one it's too far to drive to eat out, #2 with 3 small kids it wasn't that much fun, #3 we couldn't afford it with our new house payment.

I think we use to spend about $500 a month on eating out. Now I bet it's $150 or less. We can't order pizza where we live either.

My solution - move where there's no place to eat.
