Default Feeling grateful

This is the first year we had to decide on private or public school for the kids. We knew we really couldn't justify the money for private school, but if we didn't do private DD would have had to repeat kindergarten (age cutoffs issue) and also leave the school she has attended for 3 years.

We applied for aid and received a very nice package (which we were grateful for) but still it was going to be a struggle to come up with the money each month, plus gas for traveling to and from the school. It is 20 miles each way.

We got a call this morning from the head of the school. She wanted to let us know that someone had generously donated money on our kids behalf to attend school in the fall.
We still will have to pay a bit each month, but this help makes it doable.

That someone cared that much just shows how special this school is. It was just the most surreal and amazing thing to know someone out there cared enough and was generous enough to help us out in a pretty tough financial situation.

I'm rambling but basically wanted to share how happy I am that we are getting a bit of a financial "gift".

The other bonus is that another girl in DD's class just emailed me and wants to carpool with us. That will save at least $100 a month in gas money plus my time.

I'm just so thankful that while we are struggling to pay off our debt (and not accrue new debt) fate has been kind to allow our kids to stay at the school that they love.

With the carpool situation I might even be able to pick up a small part time job 2-3 days a week. That would help pay off the debt and give me a chance to be among grown ups. LOL!

It has been a long year or two of health and financial problems and it has been draining us physically and emotionally. Having to take the kids away from their friends and teachers really was breaking Dh and my heart. This just gives us hope that things can turn around sooner than later.

That is terrific that everything is working out for you. I understand your initial concerns. My son is going into 3rd grade and this is the first year that he's going to public school. We moved to a small town and the closest private school is almost an hour away. Financially and timewise, we just couldn't see how we could pull it off.

WOW! That an amazing gift!! Those are the kinds of things DH and I dream about doing when we build wealth.

Maybe having the part-time job will help ou get ahead so that next school year won't be such a stretch!

Yay for wonderful blessings!
