  • Do you have a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for healthcare expenses? How much did you allot for that account this year?

We have an FSA and put $2,000 in it. With the baby coming and all of my pregnancy complications, we figured we'd need more than last year ($1,600). We ran out of our allotted funds by May last year so we upped it some this year in hopes of stretching it further.

  • We didn't put any in the fund.

The way ours works is I get $1,500. up front by the company. I pay no copays or anything till that $1500 is used then it goes to the 80/20 rule where I pay 20% of each bill and it's put against my $2500 deductible (the $1500 is used as deductible also) so after I hit $1000 out of my pocket then 100% is covered by insurance. We did run short this year but only by about $200 so we were $800 away from meeting our deductible and if I put the money in my account and don't use it it's lost.

  • Ours is similar to Susan's. DH's company puts $2,000 up front for us to use and we did not even use all that last year.

  • we have an FSA. We put in $2000 last year and DH just photocopied enough receipts to get all that money back.
Crazy thing is, we had nothing major (besides Sarah's surgery but that wasn't financially major to us like a dental crown would be) this year. It was all basically $20 copays that added up

We would put a ton more in there of course if we had daycare expenses.
