Question Mortgage question

What percent of your take-home pay is your mortgage payment?

We started looking at houses this weekend and we're trying to figure out our budget for buying a new home. Right now, our mortgage payment (with taxes and insurance) is about 22% of our take home pay each month. That's for a 15-year, 5% mortgage.

Just wondering what everyone else's is.....

this is a good question!!

part of DH's salary is commissions-- so ours is roughly 20% for our 2 homes....our primary residence is 20yr 5% fixed.... the other is 30yr 6% fixed
