  • According to one website, the average 2006 wedding cost was $26,800 in 2006.

How much did you spend on your wedding? Would change anything about your nuptuals or are you happy with your wedding?

  • My sister is getting married in October--that's what sparked my question.

We got married in 2001 and spent, after all wedding expenses and honeymoon expenses, close to $20,000. We had 6 bridesmaids, 6 groomsmen, and two kiddos in the wedding. It was a full Catholic mass with a reception in a hotel ballroom. We didn't have an open bar (they wanted to charge us $10/person/hour for that!

) but we did offer beer and wine. We had a buffet dinner and served 190 people.

We spent the most money on our photographer ($2500) and videographer ($2500). The end results of the photos and video are AWESOME but the videographer turned out to be a total jerk with an ego bigger than the church where we married.

Otherwise, I'm glad we spent the money, even though we're STILL probably paying for it.

I couldnt spend that kind of money now.... and now we could probably afford that

we got married right out of college....

I loved my wedding-- we spent about $8K when it was all said and done-- honeymoon included (which was a 10 day cruise!)

There were 175 people for a station dinner-- and open bar

it was a big party and lots of fun

we got married in 1998.... ah and we had a cocktail hour before the 4 hour party...

I did alot to contain costs-- made the favors, had a friend DJ, dad made the center pieces (punched tin candle holders), flowers were minimal, my dress was around $600....i splurged on pictures.....

  • oh- and we had the dinner/reception at a place that was closing for the season-- we got married in October

so they closed, then stayed open an additional weekend for us.... so they gave it to us cheap, cheap, cheap

only draw back was that it was not heated or air conditioned and we gambled on the weather-- and it turned out to be a perfect weekend at 70degrees

oh- and we had some connections at the hotel-- so that helped... and now i know it's much more popular to get married there

that's where we had our reception....
