What we decided

  • For those of you following our house drama, once again we've decided to stay for a bit longer. We're thinking maybe 3-4 years. This will give us time to fully recover from 3 maternity leaves, babies, babysitting, get college funds and retirement funds growing in full swing, etc. That also gives us 4 more years to pay on the house, too. In 4 years, Brady will be in preschool full time, and the big boys will both be in FREE public school.

Our house is probably going to be too small for us, but it's not too small yet. We put the money into the kitchen; we might as well enjoy it for a few years before we move. We also figure in 4 years Josh will be 9, which is when little brothers reallllllly start to get on your nerves and you want your own room, badly. So, he can share with Brady in the meantime.

Of course if something changed drastically in our lives, we could change our plan, but we feel happy with what we've decided.

I'm sure it feels good to have a plan. I just checked the other post today to see if you'd posted anything so it's fun to see your decision post tonight!

And hopefully the market will be much better in 4 years, too, so you'll likely fetch a better selling price for your house, too!
Thank you Dopey406!

  • That sounds like a really smart decision. From the looks of your new kitchen I can't blame you at all for wanting to enjoy it a bit. It is gorgeous.

Honesty, once DD started 1st grade we are hardly ever even home. We use the beds for far too few hours and maybe are able to sit at the table 2-3 nights a week. LOL! I'm thinking we need to get a smaller house and a bigger car as I feel like we are living out of it most nights this school year. LOL!

I'm with Deanna, hopefully the market will pick up in the next few years and make it even more worth your while to have waited it out a bit.
Thank you Patience!

I think it's a great idea. I wish I could go back in time to my old house. This house has become my worst nightmare financially. Wish I had been smart like you.
Thank you Oreo!
