I should have worded this that everything was in their house not her house. This woman didn't have a pot to Pi@@ in before she met my Dad. She wound up with 2 houses, a condo in Newport RI and a great retirement account among other nice assets. They were married for under 4yrs.
My Mother worked hard and they didn't get to do the fun things this witch got to do with my Father because they were saving for retirement or for the kids braces and colleges etc. She is a piece of work and gave my father's personal belongings to people on her side of the family. My Dad's watch, wedding ring from his first marriage to my Mom and other things and didn't give my Brother or I a thing. Luckily I got most of my Mother's things I was storing in their basement out of there the week before he died so I was able to hang on to that stuff.

Needless to say I wrote her a letter 8yrs ago and told her to stop contacting me and to not mention my name to anyone in my family ever again. She was harassing me about something so I finally sent a certified letter and told her to shove it where the sun don't shine.
I have to say it felt soooooo good.

Susan do I contact a lawyer to do the will? I haven't done anything about it yet and I really should since I have strong feelings about it. We have accounts that I would like to be set aside specifically for Kayleigh in case something happens to me. I also think Ed needs more life insurance, but I think he thinks I'm going to kill him off or something because I have mentioned it a few times. If something happens to him there is no way I can continue to live in our house and our community probably because I will never make what he makes a year.

Oh Ann Marie that is so sad. Good for you though for sending that letter.

You really should contact a lawyer and tell them you want to meet with them about setting up a will and trust, going over your assets and how you want things managed.

Our lawyer met with us, we laid out our main objectives , he reviewed the documents we brought with us (deeds, insurance, pension, retirement etc) and then he called us back weeks later and told us his recommendations on what to do about insurance (we had to get a 5 million dollar umbrella policy), change deeds to be deeded to the trust not in personal names etc etc. We still have a few items we're taking care of but mainly he set out the plan for us and told us what to do and he took care of the legal papers.

My mom is trust and estate lawyer. She does it all for us for free.
But -- it is still a pain.
