MAY | Day 11 - More Problems with Infection

Lilly's blood culture from yesterday showed that the staff infection has either came back or is not responding the correct way to the antibiotics that were being used. She'll be started on a new type of antibiotics today and her blood will be cultured again tomorrow. Hopefully the infection won't show up tomorrow. The Dr. and specialists are concerned that the infection is coming from her PIC line. If this is the case they'll need to pull out the PIC line and start her on a regular IV drip for 48 hours until they can eliminate the infection and try the PIC line again. The PIC line was very difficult to get placed correctly so they don't want to have to take it out and have to put another one in.
We need her to be getting her nutrients via the PIC line since it can deliver a larger dose of nutrition than a regular IV can support.
Lilly's digestive system is starting to show signs of working properly but it's still too soon to increase her feeding enough to eliminate the PIC line.
Lilly's vitals, appearance and apparent energy level seems good overall so we are encouraged that she is still doing ok. At the same time though we' re on pins and needles hoping for good news regarding the infection tomorrow morning. here are some pic of Lilly She is Smiling!!!!!!!!!!
