Exclamation Mt St Helens is about to blow!!

Well, apparently, I moved back up to the Portland, OR metro area just in time to see Mt. St. Helens explode. Again.

I lived here in the Portland area in 1980 when it exploded and took the mountain away.
I remember it very clearly too....

The mountain is currently under a watch for possible erruption any time. No hikers are allowed on the mountain and I think they've evacuated everyone who lives nearby.
IF the mountain errupts again, it won't be nearly as huge as the 1980 eruption, but it'll be big enough -- and the wind is moving South West enough -- for me to get pleanty of ash in my yard.

I was pretty freaked out at first, but have now decided that it's better for St. Helens to blow again than Mt. Rainier. St. Helens was a trip to watch - I watched it from my bedroom window in Portland as a 16 year old in 1980. When the sky got dark and the ash began to fall it was creepy. I imagine we could get some ash here, but I'm not too worried - there's just not that much of the mountain left to blow. The inside is nearly hollow and one whole side is gone. Now if Mt. Rainier blows, we're in big doo-doo as we're only 50 miles from it.

Rainier is overdue and it's having hundreds of little earthquakes everyday - they're just not gaining magnitude.

I heard tonight they are still pretty sure there will some type of "explosive event" in the next few days, but it's definitely not an exact science.
